DELAY COSTS DEARLY

Image
FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:     DELAY COSTS DEARLY     "Delay costs dearly" means that when something is delayed, it can have significant negative consequences, often resulting in substantial financial loss or missed opportunities. Procrastination or not acting promptly can lead to a high price to pay later or result in uncertainty or skepticism.   The word ‘dearly’ inevitably forewarns you of a high cost if things are unduly postponed and done later, implying the negative impact of a delay. The word ‘cost’ refers to the negative consequences, losses, increased value and fees, and/or penalties to be paid due to the delay.  A common advice is "Don’t delay. It’s getting late."   Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today. One hour today may become two tomorrow. A delay is sometimes a deemed and the  deadliest  form of denial.   There is a great saying in the judiciary, “Justice delayed is justice denied.” ...

THE HEART AND THE BRAIN

Image
FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:     THE HEART AND THE BRAIN   இதயமும் , மூளையும்   दिल और दिमाग     Here, I don’t intend to conduct any anatomy session or biology class. Instead, their idiomatic connotations and concepts are dealt with.   More often than not, the words 'heart' and 'brain' (in some contexts 'mind') are interchangeably used thinking that they represent one and the same. However, the two seldom share the same wavelengths.   ‘ दिमाग से नही , दिल से सोचो ’ is a clinching saying in Hindi.   சத்துருக்களையும் சித்தமாய் நேசி . Love even your enemies heartily.   இதயம் தான் நேசிக்கும் , மூளை அல்ல .   Heart is the home of love, not the brain. These are typical sentences that distinguish the two terms.   While the brain can be equated with the intellect, wisdom, and discretion, the heart has everything to do with love, affection, and good relationships , as can be seen from...

CELEBRATING THE DIFFERENCES AND DIVERSITIES

Image
FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:         CELEBRATING THE DIFFERENCES AND DIVERSITIES   Variety is the spice of life. Let’s not just recognize, welcome, and tolerate, but celebrate the differences and diversities that are only natural and inspirational.   Differences and diversities are not per se divisive and dangerous; they are not disastrous or doomful either, but are naturally organized innocuous divide lines leading to convergence like rivers of different origins and courses confluence with the sea at the end.   According to Swami Vivekananda, “Unity in variety is the plan of creation. However, men and women may vary individually; there is unity in the background.”   Diversity of cultures, religions, customs, traditions, and practices is an essential component of the richness of the world. India is known for its ‘Unity in Diversity’ like a garland or bouquet woven with flowers of different colours, shapes, and fragrances thr...

FORGETFUL, DON'T MIND MUCH!

Image
FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:         FORGETFUL, DON'T MIND MUCH!     Is forgetting a positive or negative factor? It’s a blend of both in a way, considered by most as negative  but sometimes it is positive too depending on the given situation.   There are two types of forgetting. First, that happens on its own which is natural. The second one is that you do it deliberately.   There is a great saying, “ Don’t forget to pray today, because God didn’t forget to wake you up this morning!”   Never forget kindness, but forget a slight and also the painful past so that you don’t carry ill will or enmity towards the perpetrator(s). We feed our minds daily with knowledge, yet, at the same time, let’s not forget to feed our spirits with truth.   Forget trying to figure out what will bring you happiness. Simply make others happy; then happiness will find you on its own and gently caress and fondle you in recognition and with...
