POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE -

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE

Generally, positive thinking is the norm with the human mind, but sometimes, a view or assessment with a negative tinge also occurs as an aberration or exception.

Your thoughts become your words and then deeds, knowingly or unknowingly, intentionally or unintentionally.

Some seemingly negative ideas also give positive lessons like:

If you think you are beaten, you are.

If you think you dare not, you do not.

If you like to win who did you think you cannot, it is almost certain you would not.

If you think you will lose, you are lost.

For out in this world we find, success begins with a fellow’s will, it is all in the state of mind. (A line from the poem ‘Thinking’ by Walter D Wintle).

If you think you are outclassed, you are.

You have got to think high to rise.

You have got to be sure of yourself before you can ever win a prize.

Shiv Khera’s quote “One with positive attitude is like a fruit of all seasons” is encouraging, inspirational, and stirring. Isn’t it?

Either you run the day or the day runs you. One cannot obviously have a positive result with a negative mind. Let me recall here Joyce Meyer’s quote comprehensively carrying this message - 'You can't have a positive life with a negative mind.'

Going on a spiritual plank, like drizzle that slowly graduates into a downpour, the situation becomes intensely active and the spiritual sublimation results in a flood of positive energy coursing through a mundane person.

The human mind generally has a tendency to pick holes. Let me take an example. While you say that a glass is half empty, it is also half full (of water). It’s for you to decide which way you would like to take the call – either to don the positive hat or choose to mention the negative half. Sometimes, a negative saying is not bad or a curse. It also gives you a proper direction and guidance. Example - Don’t play with the fire; lest you burn your fingers.

It’s apt to refer to the oft-repeated old story here which everyone already knows.

Once upon a time, there lived a rich merchant named ‘X’. He made great wealth by working hard. He had everything in his house. One day, ‘X’ started a journey. When he was going through a forest, he felt very tired and wanted to have a break. He found a tree and sat under it. While resting, ‘X’ felt thirsty and wished a glass of water whispering unto himself sotto voce, “If I had a glass of water, I could drink and quench my thirst.”. At that moment, a miracle happened. A glass of water greeted him by its sudden appearance. ‘X’ was utterly surprised. He drank the water.

After a while, ‘X’ felt hungry and wished a plate of food, “If I had a plate of delicious food, I could eat to full satisfaction.” Then again there was a miracle. A plate of delicious food appeared before him. He ate to his full satisfaction.

After eating the food, ‘X’ felt drowsy and wanted to sleep. He wished for a soft bed murmuring thus, “How can I sleep on the hard ground? If there was a soft velvet bed…”. As soon as he thought this, a soft velvet bed appeared before him. He lied on the bed and fell asleep immediately. He was feeling as if he was in the heaven as his wishes came true instantly. However, he wasn’t aware that he was staying under a tree that can fulfil wishes. This tree was thought to have the power to fulfil wishes. It was ‘KALPAVRIKSHA’.

'X’ was enjoying sleep for some time on the soft velvet bed. After he woke up, he thought, “I am lonely in the middle of the wild forest in which tigers, lions or wolves lived. If one of them attacks me, I may not be able to defend myself.” Soon after he thought this, a wild tiger appeared there and attacked.. ‘X’ couldn’t even move because of fear. Thus, as he thought negatively, he was killed. The story speaks loudly thus, "As you think, so shall you become.".

It is believed that the thought process leads an individual. The negative thoughts beget negative things. Positive thoughts lead to positive things giving happiness.

The realm of positive thinking refers to the mindset and practice of focusing on optimism, solutions, and the potential for growth, even in the face of adversities and challenges, but it is futile dwelling on the negativity or problems.

A funny play with the letters:

Negative - Beat it  /  Positive - Be at it.

Create a positive environment at the workplace. Promote an office atmosphere that makes all employees feel worthwhile and important. Don’t play politics or favouritism with your personnel. Don't keep a coterie around to flatter you always. They may distort the truth and mislead you. Keep office doors open and make the subordinates feel they can always approach you with questions or concerns in the right spirit and in the best interests of the organization. A happy office is a productive office with a win-win situation.

Remember, positive criticism is a ‘no-cost research’ from which you can get right and gainful insights and inputs.

Unleash energy into right actions to win over our negative things operating and going against you. It means we have to change our negatives into positives by controlling disappointments, frustrations and/or anger, and standing tall.

Mind is a human machine fraught with a constant flow and flooding of thoughts swinging to and fro. It is the mind that makes life heaven or hell. We should evaluate each thought mindfully, cultivate the positive ones, and implement them for self-satisfaction, and for the good of others and the society at large. This way one can create a Heaven on the Earth.

Swami Sharnanand-ji asserted “Every event in one’s life has a lesson to teach. The thoughtful imbibe the lesson and forget the incident. The thoughtless forget the lesson but keep thinking about the event.”

(Positive thoughts have the potential to keep our body and mind happy and robust).

(By being humble, your words will raise tall and your life scale heights).

(The trees being felled may not know they will become a load of great books one day).

(Only positive thoughts can give you a prosperous life).

(Negative thoughts trap the individual in a maze where he/she loses sight of his/her own faults, blemishes, defects, and vices).

(There is no season to do hard work; whenever needed, start it at any time that becomes the right time).
