POWER

 

(A POWER-building exercise)

 

POWER is the most POWERFUL term. POWER is what the POWER does. POWER is a magic wand and double-edged sword. POWER can EMPOWER others to make them become more POWERFUL; or POWERLESS. POWER should be used for POWERING a POWERFUL greener and greater tomorrow. Proper use of our huge MANPOWER is a key to EMPOWERMENT. POWER DRIVEN VALUE and VALUE DRIVEN POWER are complementary to each other. Youth should improve their MIND-POWER to make India a well-POWERED intellectual and knowledge POWERHOUSE. Your MIND-POWER and WORD-POWER represent your mighty tongue and pen. If your POWER were to be used to OVERPOWER others, it is not POWER but a sin. Words are sharper and more POWERFUL than the knife. While the two MOST POWERFUL FORCES are ‘love and affection’, the two MOST POWER-FILLED WORDS are “I can.”

 

The POWERFUL associate with the POWERFUL like sandal paste perfectly mixes with camphor. Ideas are POWERFUL basic instrument to constructive action(s). Knowledge gives you POWER; but mere POWER can’t automatically ensure knowledge.

 

Nowadays, it is difficult to see an unassuming person in POWER. Even petty officials, dressed in brief authority, are strutting about with airs, vaunting superficialities and kowtowing to the political class in POWER, totally unresponsive to social and public problems around, minding their own personal concerns.

 

On the flip side, it is unfortunate that MONEY-POWER and MUSCLE-POWER rule the roost today, thanks to the POWERFUL POWER-CENTRES. Still worse is usurping others’ POWERS to make them EMPOWERMENT-STARVED. In the hands of wrong persons, POWER follows wealth; and wealth seeks POWER to protect itself.

 

We have to change our ‘mechanically functioning society’ into a ‘KNOWLEDGE-POWERED SOCIETY’ if India is to become a SUPER-POWER, sooner than later.

 

பலத்தவன் கைக்கு இளைத்தவன் துரும்பு.

The feeble is a straw in the hands of the POWERFUL.

 

வல்லவனுக்கு வல்லவன் வையகத்தில் உண்டு.

Every POWERFUL man in the world has his rival.

  FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:       THIRUMURUGA KRIPANANDA VARIYAR திருமுருக கிருபானந்த வாரியார் (25 August 1906 - 7 November 1993)   THIRUMURUGA KRIPANANDA VARIYAR was born on 25.8.1906 in Kangeyanallur near Vellore, Tamil Nadu.   He sowed divinity in the minds of the common man and words contemplated upon were humorously conveyed by him so as to grip the minds of his audience. He was affectionately and reverently called VARIYAR SWAMIGAL by people.   He had no formal education.
