SRI RAM TEMPLE BHOOMI POOJA AT AYODHYA ON 5.8.2020
SRI RAM TEMPLE BHOOMI POOJA AT AYODHYA
ON 5.8.2020 (WEDNESDAY)
5.8.2020 (Wednesday) will have to be etched in golden letters in
the history of India as it is a matter of great pride for all Indians in the
country and abroad, as Bhoomi Puja was performed on that day heralding the beginning of the
construction of a temple for Lord Sri Ram, the hero of the Indian epic RAMAYAN
and the religious and spiritual heart-throb of millions across the world,
at his birthplace Ayodhya. The occasion was dedicated by our Prime Minister
Narendra Modi to the nation. Like one of the world wonders like Taj Mahal one
would not even wonder if the new Sri Ram temple at Ayodhya, once constructed, may also become another wonder of the world. Indians and Hindus across the globe
feel exulted, exalted and elated to recover the place which was the SRI RAM
JANMA BHOOMI that was ransacked centuries back over the rubble of
which some other construction was put up. After a long-drawn out battle
including protracted legal proceedings, now the nation has heaved a sigh of
relief having retrieved a sacred place of Hindu religion and one of the most
revered Hindu Gods Sri Ram. Even though the construction of Sri Ram temple at
the very same place where the Lord was born has been the avowed objective of
the entire Hindu community for long whose religious sentiments and spiritual
conviction took centuries to materialize and crystallize, it is a good destiny
and augury for Narendra Modiji to dedicate the Puja occasion to the nation
during his tenure as Prime Minister. Retrieval of the ‘Ram Janma Bhoomi’ was
inordinately delayed due to the continuous legal wrangles. Substantial part of the
credit goes to the legendary legal luminary Shri K Parasaran (92) who led the
Hindu legal fight for retrieving what the majority community people considered as
one of the most religiously sacred places to them. But for the pandemic,
crores of people would have congregated at the Ayodhya site on the occasion.
The day is also
reminiscent of and can be likened to the days when Somnath temple in
Gujarat (at Prabhas Patan near Veraval in Saurashtra on the western coast)
which was yet another Hindu temple damaged and destroyed by invaders, who
looted most of the properties of the temple as many as 17 times and took
away, inter alia, huge nuggets of golden pieces that adorned
the temple and the Deities. Certainly, but for the Iron Man of India Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel, Somnath temple would not have been got raised from the
rubble to regain its original glory. Needless to say, in 1948, the then Home
Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel saw Somnath temple in ruins and in a
dilapidated condition and wanted to rebuild it. This, he said, was not a
religious or communal act nor was against anybody or any other religion. It was
only to restore the past glory of Bharat. The very same theory now applies to
Ayodya temple to be constructed. In fact, when Patel broached this subject
and mooted the idea to Mahatma Gandhi, the latter endorsed the plan but said
that the contribution for the reconstruction of the temple should come from the
public. Patel accepted this advice. It was accordingly done. Now also, the same
thing is happening and the temple is coming up with the overwhelming financial
support of the people of India and the Indian Diasporas across the globe.
Like in the case of
Somnath temple restoration, the Bhoomi Puja marking the beginning of the
construction of Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya is also an act of restoring
the glory of Bharat.
Just like we all take
pride in Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, every Indian
irrespective of religion, community, caste, creed, region etc. should feel
'delighted as if in the seventh heaven at the Sri Ram Mandir set to turn a reality in Ayodhya at the very same site where it existed once i.e. at the birthplace
of the Lord.
