SRI RAMAKRISHNA PARAMAHAMSA
FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:
SRI RAMAKRISHNA PARAMAHAMSA
(18 February 1836 – 16 August 1886)
(Born Gadadhar Chattopadhyay/Chatterjee in Kamarpukur village in Hooghly, West Bengal in the erstwhile Bengal Presidency)
Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa - YOU were a spiritual
treasure;
YOU believed all religions stressed equality
in collective measure;
Transformed religion from God-realization to
service to people with pleasure;
Infused unquenchable fire in people for Divine
truth-finding and disclosure!
Maa Kali was not just YOUR most-venerated and worshipped deity but a living reality;
Everyone and everything else was only a triviality;
To YOU, HER Darshan (live appearance) was a sure
possibility;
That happened many times - an actuality and factuality;
HER visibility and YOUR live interactions
with HER were out of Divine mutuality;
All that blessed and graced YOUR life with totality!
YOU likened the mind to a mad elephant to be
controlled through meditation;
For that gives great power, purifies the mind, and
destroys ignorance leading to spiritual exaltation;
Said YOU, “When the flower blooms, the bees come
without invitation”;
Serving humanity is worshipping God - what a cogitation
and interpretation!
YOU played a vital role in the reformed Hindu
religious order;
Across the country in every region and
beyond the border;
That connected the tenets of all faiths discouraging disharmony and disorder;
By being the frontline leader!
YOUR life was an extraordinary searchlight;
That YOU lived a full life in just 51 years
was the spotlight;
Because the spiritual faith is a wonderful
insight;
The weight and height of YOUR philanthropic personality
were a matter of delight representing YOUR might;
‘Gnana’ is alright, but love is noble and
great;
Limiting the infinitude of God is incorrect;
Ramakrishna Mission's educational, philosophical, and philanthropic institutions in India and abroad are the highlight!
Inner piece doesn’t come from dry
intellectualism;
For it dies away in meaningless
sentimentalism;
Society can’t exist or survive without
multilateralism;
Territorialism and traditionalism should
give way to pluralism!
YOU realized divinity in humanity;
Stressed essentiality of intercommunity;
Urged sanity for identity and unity;
Replacing the mere mundanity with benignity;
To secure solemnity and human dignity;
Through unflinching and steadfast affinity!
For all of us, pursuing a mundane life, YOUR sermons may be bitter;
But, YOUR disciple Swami Vivekananda presented
them like honey-soaked bread and butter;
To make it palatable helping people taste and digest them better;
And to make wings of inner conscience
flutter and heart of kindness melt and glitter!
