Origin:
‘Behemoth’ comes from the Hebrew word ‘b'hemah’ meaning
‘big beast’. You can use it to describe large animals or large entities that
make you feel small and powerless when you have to confront them.
The word is always supposed to be italicized :: ‘behemoth’
Pronounciation :: Be-hee-me(th) (‘be’ as in ‘bet’,
‘hee’ as in heed’, ‘me(th)’ as in ‘met’)
– (b)பெஹிமெ(த்) - (th) and (த்) are pronounced
half.
Literal meaning:
Someone or something unusually
very large in appearance and powerful like a hippopotamus, a huge monster,
anything or organization that is
gigantic – நீர்யானை போல மிகப்பெரிய மிருகம்.
The term can be used as an idiom also.
