  FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:                    SCHOOL DAYS' MEMORY LANE    As school-going children, during play times, we had no INHIBITION;   There was no self-imposed PROHIBITION;   In class, we had a common AMBITION:   We were attentive to what was taught and tried to have full IMBIBITION!         For playing, no quorum was COMPULSORY;   Response would never be ELUSORY;   We would not take in what was ILLUSORY;   In case of dispute or controversy, we would send the most intelligent among us as our EMISSARY!         Except for examinations, we had no FEAR;   Nor a big responsibility to BEAR;   Although we had prepared for it on top GEAR!   Despite healthy competition, we held one another NEAR and DEAR;         We had a strong and special BOND; ...

  FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:   FLOWERS AND BUTTERFLIES       Both are of motley, a riot of mind-blowing colours;     And jaw-dropping designs;     Both are soft creations of Mother Nature;     Flowers are humble, and butterflies are nimble;     The latter are attracted by the former for the honey;     They're a natural pair, inseparable from each other;     Both are invariably captivating and entrancing to poets;     Who never miss to relate the duo as an apt pair in their works;     The colours and admixture of colours are the pet features of cloth manufacturers along with countless designs to be printed in the female clothing, especially sarees;       Both, though they're short-lived creations, have attained an immortal/permanent place in the hearts and works of poets and the literary world at large! ...

  FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:    APPROPRIATE and INAPPROPRIATE      Empty vessels make the most noise for nothing;   The frog's own tongue is its worst enemy, especially during rainy season;   The nicest gesture one can be to sport a smile at others;   Go on the fastest track to help others;   In this modern age where  the world has shrunken into a global village, the widest is the global human network for interaction transcending all borders and barriers;   While we talk to our relatives and friends abroad on the phone/WhatsApp for hours, why avoid interacting with our neighbours, keeping ourselves within the confined cocoons?   While you drive with utmost speed on the road, rushing ahead of others, why go in the slowest mode to the rescue of a person in distress on the road?   Overall, it's the best course to put into practice what you preach and be a role model;  just teaching is...

  FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:   WEIRD YET TRUE       Even the scorching Sun can't burn the sky;     Nor can any amount of rain drench the sky;     Even a heavy snowfall will not solve water problems;     While digestive enzymes burn the eaten food in the stomach into calories, they don't harm your belly.     Although two-thirds of the Earth is ocean/sea water, it still doesn't intrude or encroach into the landscape and annex it with water territory;     Even if the mother-hen tramples its chickens, they will not be maimed;     We do not get two summers a year because seasons are controlled by Earth's fixed 23.5-degree tilt as it orbits the Sun just once annually.   FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:   THINGS TO LIVE WITH AND WITHOUT     The greatest thing to live with is SIMPLICITY;   Avoid EGOCENTRICITY;   Uphold unity in DIVERSITY.   Your talent lies in converting ADVERSITY into CREDIBILITY and AUTHENCITY;   Shun things and matters of UNNECESSITY;   The least of things you can't miss is RECIPROCITY;   The norm must be GENEROSITY;   If you adopt these, they will enhance your CAPACITY;   Double your VIVACITY;   Get you a lot of FELICITY.   And, of course, automatically PUBLICITY;   You thus become a high-value UNIVERSITY!         R.SAMPATH 19.8.2026

  FROM SAMPATH’S DESK: GAPS   If something conveyed is wrongly understood, it's COMMUNICATION GAP.     If two persons have seen the same object but described it differently, it's DISTANCE GAP.     If children pooh-pooh your suggestion, it's due to GENERATION GAP.     When a boy solves a simple computer/mobile phone problem while you blink, it's DIGITAL GAP.     Today's students are more intelligent because they have exposure to different streams of education and information, unlike in the old days, when we had only a limited number of subjects to study. It's KNOWLEDGE GAP.     Nowadays, there are mind-blowing advancements in many fields and avenues that were not even available earlier.
