COLLECTIVE FEMININE OUTBURST!
From Sampath’s Desk:
Dedicated to International Women's Day - March 8
Am I a sinned creature from womb to tomb?
No, you aren’t the wolf, nor am I the lamb;
Girl or boy, it takes the same ten months to be born;
How then does the society allow my dignity to be torn?
Am I a toy in your hands to play with?
To drag me anywhere and everywhere and ditch;
You aren’t my master, nor am I your slave?
God has bestowed upon me equal rights and strength to brave!
Why do you always make me cry?
Forcing us to jump into a pan fry;
We form one half of the population;
Yet we are mercilessly subjected to strangulation!
As a Mother, I give you everything of mine;
As a Sister, I help you shine;
As a Wife, I am your better half and pride;
As a Daughter, I enhance your status to fatherhood!
Don’t you have a mother, sister and/or daughter?
To see how does womanhood glitter?
How nicely the womenfolk make your life easy;
And keep your home stay breezy!
I’m as soft as cotton yet as tough as steel;
It’s not fair on your part to steal;
My rights which you’re supposed to respect;
And give me the much-needed dignity I richly deserve and expect!
People say India has achieved freedom;
We have listened to this rhetoric enough and for long with boredom;
If one eye is hurt, will the other keep quiet?
That it happens to us is a blot!
Day or night, am I not entitled to safe and free movement?
Why should you, brothers, make me fear every moment?
Father of our Nation had a dream vision;
To ensure safe movement of women even at midnight, as a mission!
Why talk tall about equality and parity?
When you can’t ensure my safety and security;
If you don’t raise your voice for the voiceless;
Who else can I turn to for making the world a peace paradise?
