Origin: Italian ‘imbroglio’
(tangle) and ‘imbrogliare’ (to tangle).

Meaning:
A misunderstanding, disagreement, etc. of a complicated or bitter
nature between persons and nations – intricate entanglement – conused and perplexing
state of affairs – a complicated or difficult situation full of troubles and
problems – a confused heap.
Example sentences:
The Soviet Union became anxious to withdraw its soldiers from the
Afghan IMBROGLIO.
Will the treaty end this IMBROGLIO that has kept the two countries
at war for over five decades?
