Raison d’etre: 

 

Origin: French (literally meaning ‘reason to be’) - word should appear in italics.

 

Pronunciation:

 

Ray-zaan-detr – ரேஸான்-(d)டெடர் / (d)டெட்ர்

 

Meaning:

 

The claimed purpose/reason for the existence of something or someone - the sole or ultimate reason and/or purpose of something or someone accounting for or justifying the existence of a thing – the ‘be-all’ and/or ‘end-all’ reason for something.

 

தோற்ற மூலகாரணம் - ஓரு இருப்பு அல்லது விஷயத்திற்கான அடிப்படை காரணம்.

He was affectionately and reverently called VARIYAR SWAMIGAL by people.   He had no formal education.
