DON'T MAKE THE SITUATION

'WATER WATER EVERYWHER BUT NOT A DROP TO DRINK!'

A clarion call to save the Nature’s bounty!

WORLD WATER DAY  -  MARCH 22

I am the offspring of Hydrogen and Oxygen;

Many a drop of mine make an ocean;

For some, wasting me is a fashion;

Without being alive to the adverse repercussion!

 

I have a two-third spread in the world;

In many forms - from a big sea, river, to a small rivulet and pond;

In many places, I remain dirty and filthy, and stink;

A good chunk thus becomes junk!

 

I come down pouring from the cradle of clouds;

To drench the ground and quench the thirst of the world;

And give a green cap to the Mother Earth;

For all to make mirth!

 

I am in abundance during seasons of rain;

If you store me I will be of gain;

For putting me to myriad uses over and over again;

Lamenting later without saving me would be vain!

 

Water saved is water produced;

Avoid the Nature’s gift from being wasted;

Casual, careless and complacent attitude may not work;

It is not prudent to shirk!

 

Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink;

During floods it happens to the brink;

Mindless wastes make human life sink;

Let's use our wisdom to forethink!

 

Why are states at loggerheads as I am common to all;

Don’t bicker but share me; lest you are driven to the wall;

I shall be too glad to crisscross states in fine mettle;

And to flow freely and settle!

 

Future wars, if any, may be for water;

For population increases in billions to cater;

If we now dither;

Vegetations will wither!

 

Water is the lifeline;

Check-valves are the helpline;

Arrest the brewing climate change;

Widening the green cover is the right plunge;

 

Let's no longer bungle;

Making the world a jungle;

Our grit and positive determination are our testimony;

To decide our own  destiny;

For nobody gets to write your destiny but you!
