WISE & WISDOM

 From Sampath’s Desk:

WISE & WISDOM

WISE:

  • A wise man counts his blessings and a fool his woes.
  • Be wise at least after the event.
  • Sometimes, where ignorance is bliss, it is foolish to be wise.
  • The art of being wise is the art of knowing what to overlook.
  • Yesterday is a cancelled check (cheque); tomorrow is a promissory note; today is the only cash you have - spend it wisely.
  • Many receive advice, but only the wise profit from it.
  • Rules are for obedience of fools and guidance of wise people.
  • It is so simple to be wise; think of something stupid to say, but don’t say it.
  • Any fool can paint a beautiful picture but it takes a wise-man to be able to sell it.
  • It is unwise to argue with a fool. Onlookers may not be able to see the difference.
  • Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something.
  • It is wise to follow your heart taking your brain along.
  • A wise man knows that no response is also a response and that it is powerful one too at times.
  • A wise man never loses anything, if he has himself.
  • A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can from a wise answer.
  • The wise man has his thoughts in his head; the fool in his tongue.
  • A wise man knows, “Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.”
  • Knowing when to walk away is also wisdom sometimes.
  • ‘Cho’ Ramaswamy was a wise and tolerant critic. When others criticized him, he not only published it in his magazine ‘Thuglak’ but also used to laugh it away by adding his own banter and wisecrack in his own inimitable style much to the amusement of all.

WISDOM:

  • Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life.
  • To realize your ignorance is the first step towards wisdom.
  • Nine-tenths of wisdom is being wise in time.
  • Knowledge comes from learning. Wisdom comes from living.
  • Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.
  • The richest wealth is wisdom; the strongest weapon is patience; the best security is faith; and the most effective tonic is laughter.
  • To weep is folly and to smile is wisdom.
  • Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers.
  • Knowledge is a collection of facts. Wisdom is, knowing how to apply it with best results.
  • Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. While the former helps you make a living, the latter helps you make a life.
  • Wisdom and good judgment live together; for wisdom knows where to discover knowledge and understanding.
  • It requires wisdom to understand wisdom. Even the best music is nothing if the audience is deaf.
  • Knowledge is knowing what to say. Wisdom is knowing whether or not to say it.
  • There is a huge amount of freedom that comes to you when you take nothing personally.
  • Albert Einstein’s wisdom was, ‘Stay away from negative people. They have a problem for every solution’.
