HAVE THE LAST LAUGH / SABRE-RATTLING
HAVE THE LAST LAUGH:
Meaning:
The satisfaction of the ultimate triumph or final success
especially after being scorned or regarded as a failure proving the critics wrong - to
finally get an advantage from an argument or disagreement when it seemed that
you would not – to finally be more successful than someone who was unpleasant
to you especially the one who laughed when you failed before – if you say that
you have the last laugh you mean that you have become successful at something so
that people who criticized or opposed you now look foolish.
Example sentences:
After so many people found her unsuitable to be a reporter, Vimala
HAD THE LAST LAUGH by entering journalism and finally becoming a News Editor of
a TV channel.
He was mocked for his lack of political experience, but he HAD THE
LAST LAUGH. His political campaign proved to be excellent and successful and
got a few more seats for his party in the elections.
Don’t worry; you carry on with singing as you have the potential to

Meaning:
Talking and behaving in a way that threatens military action – threatening
gestures to create a conflict or to go on a collision course
Example sentences:
There has been a renewed SABRE-RATTLING between the two countries
for quite some time.
If peace has to prevail, the situation calls for calm discussion,
not SABRE-RATTLING.
Despite the SABRE-RATTLING, most union leaders are not inclined to
call for a general strike.
The troop movement on the orders is nothing but SABRE-RATTLING.
