SUPERSTAR RAJINIKANTH


India's highest and most coveted film world laurel DADA SAHEB PHALKE AWARD was announced for Superstar Rajinikanth in April 2021. He received it from our Vice President Venkaiah Naidu at Delhi on 25.10.2021 (Monday).

 

This award has added yet another feather to his already colourful cap and embeded a precious gem and priceless diamond into his already shining crown. Congrats Superstar!

 

The Superstar rightly and richly deserves it, because, like Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, MGR, and Sivaji Ganesan – Rajinikanth, once a humble bus conductor Sivaji Rao, opened his own golden chapter and has been reigning in the film world for decades together stealing the hearts of millions - an era that is still going great guns.

 

That he dedicated the prestigious award to all those who stood by him throughout in general, and his Guru and another Dadasaheb Phalke award winner (2010) – director (Iyakkunar Sikaram) K Balachander, in particular – shows his humility and gratitude to his mentor. Making his humble debut in the film world in 1975 and after achieving stardom and entering the hall of fame even during the initial stages of his carrier, it was only a bang-bang with no looking back for him. More and more accolades are still pouring in. 

 

He has entertained and enthralled millions across the world transcending generations and divides of border, language, etc. The glorious era still continues. All the best to him.

RAMAN (7 November 1888 – 21 November 1970)   Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was born on 7 th November 1888 in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu.   An Indian physicist well known for his work in ‘light scattering’, he invented, duly aided by his student KS Krishnan,  that ‘when light traverses a transparent object (say like a prism), the wavelength and amplitude necessarily get changed for some of the deflected light’.   FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:   RABINDRANATH TAGORE (7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941)     Needless to say, Rabindranath Tagore is synonymous with India’s national anthem ‘Jana gana mana’. Born in Jorasanko Thakur Bari, Bengal (British India), Rabindranath Tagore was a polymath and versatile persona viz. poet, playwright, dramatist, novelist, essayist, story-writer, composer, philosopher, social reformer, educationist, linguist, grammarian, and painter - all rolled into one - who received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 for his profoundly sensitive, fresh, and beautiful poetic collection called GITANJALI.
