PULWAMA TERROR ATTACK
From Sampath’s Desk:
PULWAMA TERROR ATTACK
(14 February 2019)
India woke up on 14.2.2019 (Thursday) to the horrific, heart-breaking, and spine-chilling news of a terror attack in Lethapora, Pulwama,
at the wee hours (03.30 AM) - a shameful and cowardly act sponsored by Pakistan - which can
easily be described as one of the deadliest ever in India that time in Jammu and Kashmir coming as it were after Mumbai 26-29/11/2008 terror arrack, shortly known as 26/11 - in which at
least 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred leaving 35
others grievously injured.
The Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack. A Jaish suicide bomber rammed his vehicle carrying over 100 kg of explosives into one of the military convoy’s buses near Awantipora on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway in Pulwama district that was ferrying the 76th battalions from Jammu to Srinagar on that ill-fated day.
Subsequently, the police had
identified the suicide bomber as Adil Ahmed Dar calling himself as Waqas Commander
from Gandhibagh, Kakapora area in Pulwama. For the first time, an SUV packed with explosives was
triggered into action by terrorists who were on the wait to carry out the
heinous act. And shortly after the bombing, some terrorists also started
opening fire on the possible survivors. This showed that it was a pre-planned terror attack clearly sponsored by our western neighbour through state and non-state players.
Of course, on February 26, 2019, at 0330 hours, a
group of Mirage 2000 Indian Air Force's Fighter jets destroyed the major
terrorist camps of JeM across the LoC.
On 31.7.2021, JeM's Mohammad Ismail Alvi, a relative of Masood Azhar, and Sameer Dar
were killed in a gunfight in
Pulwama in an operation that was a major success for our security
forces.
Earlier also, India bore the brunt of Pak-sponsored terror attacks at Kaluchak (2002),
Pathankot (Jan 2016) and Uri (Sep 2016), among others.
India should, with iron hands, quell terrorism in all its formats and go after and hunt down terrorists of all hues. Besides, India should make all-out efforts and undertake an effective campaign among world countries exposing the nefarious designs of Pakistan for getting that country declared as a 'terror/rogue state'. The whole nation wholeheartedly stands by whatever strong and stern actions taken against terrorists. The U.S. and U.K. should take the initiative. The first-of-its-kind car bomb attack carried out in the gory incident clearly points to the involvement of state and non-state sponsors and masterminds from across our western borders colluding and acting in tandem with each other to cause troubles and disturb peace in India The whole world including the international peace watchdog, the United Nations (U.N.), should take note of this, act decisively against the terror state Pakistan, and compel it to make amends.
Pakistan should realize, “You can
fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time. But
you cannot fool all the people all the time”, as once observed by Abraham
Lincoln.
