FIT THE BILL (FILL THE BILL):

Meaning:

If someone or something FITS THE BILL, they are exactly the right person or thing that is needed for a particular job or in a particular situation. You can also say that someone or something FILLS THE BILL.

Example sentences:

WALK THE PLANK (WALK THE GANGPLANK):

Meaning:

If something goes wrong and/or someone in a position of authority WALKS THE PLANK, they accept responsibility for what has happened and leave their position. You can also say that someone WALKS THE GANGPLANK. These expressions are used mostly in journalism - 

Also - forced to say goodbye, forced to say farewell, or forced to quit or leave accepting the consequences of something – be checked out or dismissed from one’s job or position
