HOPES LIE IN THE MINDS AND HANDS OF THE HOPEFULS!

HOPES LIE IN THE MINDS AND HANDS OF THE HOPEFULS!

Our former President and nuke scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had envisioned that India, the emerging knowledge capital of the world, would become one of the world super-powers by 2025, and most likely an economic and technological Czar by 2050, overtaking and dislodging other advanced countries of the day.

The Indian brains anywhere in the world are doing admirable job in all fields. The Indian Diasporas elsewhere in the world toil and contribute their best towards the  overall growth, development and progress of the country of their domicile. People of Indian-origin have carved a niche position for themselves in whichever nation they live in and serve, as India itself is making rapid strides in all fields. They constantly make value addition(s) to the systems and functionalities in different intellectual streams.

While on one side we feel euphoric about our fellow-Indians doing yeoman service in other countries earning precious foreign exchange besides accolades and laurels to themselves and to our country at large thereby collectively making Indians the most-sought-after brainy lot across the globe, another school of thought has a sense of despair and despondency with the migration of Indians towards greener pastures abroad pointing to a likelihood of a ‘brain-drain’, which, according to them, may slow down, if not impede and/or hinder the pace of India’s ascendancy. It's not true, but just a myth.

Here, a moot question arises, "Can’t we quicken development the process and attain the avowed dream objective much earlier than the target time envisaged?" The answer is ‘Yes’ - an emphatic ‘Yes’. India with its vast resources - men and material besides its think tank - can very well accelerate the pace of progress and advancement and maintain its success streaks in all facets of human-life and knowledge domains. Indians ingrained as they are with ideal qualities of indefatigable zeal, insatiable quest for discoveries, inventions, and innovations, boundless appetite and fire for creativity, and a mindset to question the answers for truth-search not only in the known fields but also into the hitherto unknown.

Indian youth with their inquisitive and novel pursuits could excel in any field and may take the world by storm sooner than later enabling never-before great strides to be made by India albeit apprehensions  of a likely brain-drain.

For turning the dream into reality, our children and youth need to concentrate on creative thinking, constructive knowledge explorations and expeditions, constant and continuous information updates, attuning themselves with the global trends in all fields, furbishing and burnishing of skills including inter-personal ones, pursue their passions and thirst for higher competence levels, etc.  - all with a scientific temperament.

Japan, a nation catastrophically devastated in World War II especially after being razed to the ground by atom-bomb shelling by America  on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, re-emerged as a superpower and economic giant like the proverbial phoenix re-emerging from the ashes - resuscitating, revivifying and resurrecting new life unto itself. Remember, the nuclear holocaust cost Japan so heavily that the ill-effects of the nuke-attack do linger on even now after decades in many forms including, inter alia, defects and infirmities in children born in that country. Whenever two Japanese met, they used to greet each other with the word ‘Kaizen’ meaning ‘continuous, never-ending change for still better.’’ What a superb way to go and greet each other! ‘Strike’ is unknown to the Japanese; it is rather an anathema for them. They don’t stop work even while on a rare, so-called ‘strike’; rather they overwork and/or over-produce. That is the way they show their angst and dissatisfaction, if any, against the management. For example, if a shoe-making industry goes on a 'strike', they will not stop production but will overproduce either the left or right leg shoes. The idea is, once the strike is called off, they will produce the other left-out leg shoes to complete the pair. This avoids loss of precious man-hours.

Germany got bifurcated after its defeat in World War II. After years of separation, they seriously and intensely realized the need and significance of unity and integrity. They broke the separating wall into pieces and got themselves re-united as a single Germany in 1990.

Our youth equipped as they are with pristine qualities of adaptability, acumen, aptitude and attitude can make things happen well for India and the whole world. Yes, they can, and they will!

  2. Your optimism projections are really worth to visualize and it's happening also as v see our youth are raising their bar at the world level. of course The brain drain is taking heavy toll as IITians and top private college graduates clamoring for greener pastures in abroad. Still there are hopes that the world will look at our country in years to come.

  3. Titled superbly, it shows that india has still the hope and will to emerge as super power. Motto kaizen has to be adapted by all. Reference to germany is very apt.
