SMILE AND LAUGHTER
FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:
SMILE
AND LAUGHTER
A smile makes your face more beautiful. Smile has a more decorative effect on your face
than any facials/cosmetics used. In other words, smiling is definitely one of the best beauty remedies.
Yes, it gives a facelift!
Smile is an ornamental value addition to your face. Smile and laughter - the two sides of a positive coin - optimistically, encouragingly, and beneficially affect the brain. They can also be likened to siblings/cousins. Your face is like a beautiful lake on which your smile is a blooming lotus flower.
Can’t
we say that the bigger version of the smile is a laugh? In other words, a laugh
is just a smile that lost control.
Smile and laughter are natural. They have no specific language other than that your heart speaks. It's a different matter if you fake otherwise.
A smile is a universal expression and a face language. It speaks all languages, overcomes all differences, and holds all spaces. It’s something that two people can always share and instantly connect. Your smile is representative of the unique role you play in your life.
While a smile is natural and self-grown, laughter is a sudden positive outburst or upsurge of your
innocuous positive emotions in a given situation.
When
you smile and laugh, ‘feel-good’ hormones like Endorphins (peptides) interact
with Opioid receptors in the brain to help relieve pain and trigger feelings of
pleasure by improving the immune response, encouraging the production of health-savvy Collagen, Elastin, and Hyaluronic Acid, Enzyme inhibition, inducing hunger, making
you attractive, a good harbinger to success in a win-win situation almost at all times, and helping
you stay positive. Needless to say, both smile and laughter have a healing
effect. Both improve the mindset and mood avoiding swings, reducing stress, boosting immunity, and
reducing high blood pressure.
Social smile is infectious i.e. when you put a smile out there, you get a smile back. Smiling can trick your brain into happiness and pave the way for robust health too. Yes, genuine smiles make, not break, the hearts.
A smile costs you nothing except opening up your heart. Nothing beats a great
smile. If you have a good sense of humour and approach to life that is
beautiful. A person smiling may underestimate its power, but it has appealing
and pleasing fallout, making him/her sport a charming and charismatic outlook,
as the most beautiful attire is a smile. It’s also well received by onlookers.
Especially in the commercial world, they say “A smile costs nothing to the holder, but
it gives so much to the customer.”
Smiles may introduce and help you secure new acquaintances and explore and open up new possibilities if properly handled. However, don’t curl your lips into a crooked smile. Keep smiling and one day, bad things in life will get tired of upsetting you. Your dress may not be complete without a smile, as it is a curve that sets everything straight.
Sun glows for a day, a candle for an hour, and a matchstick for
a minute. The smile lasts forever.
Nowadays, some people fake smiles on their faces and perfunctorily greet or welcome others without doing it from the bottom of their hearts, least realizing that while affectionately smiling, serotonin is produced in our body the lack of which is one of the causes of mental depression.
Every little smile can touch somebody’s heart. You can find umpteen of reasons to don cherubic smiles. May you also be the reason for someone to smile every day? The sum total of all such days would make a paradise of smiles and give you a blessed and blissful life.
A study report says that the more
smiles you have posted, the more free would be your mind! And, as the world
always looks brighter from behind a smile, why don’t you try it, if not already doing?
Don’t shy away from laughing; it is a tonic to health, the music of the
soul, and the key to opening your heart and becoming free. Guffaws of laughter would ease tensions.
To quote Victor Borge, “Laughter is the shortest distance
between two people.”
Gelogology is the study of laughter and how it affects the human body, both physiologically and psychologically. One would only wonder how ‘gelotologists’ may react when someone tells them that their research is a laughing matter!
Laughter is not a silly thing as some ignorantly imagine. It is health-friendly. Laugh out on as many occasions as you can; it is a cheap medicine. It increases the elasticity of the blood vessels and veins, lightening your heart and easing your stress, among others. Have you not heard of ‘laughter/smile therapy'? Laughter with evil designs and wicked intentions behind don't and can't fall within this purview.
Humour clubs, comedy, jokes, satirical tidbits, cartoons, caricatures, parody, mimicry, fun-games, bufoonery, etc. play an important role.
Complete absence of smile and laughter would make your face and heart harder and more concrete. Don’t be an ‘agelast’ (one who never laughs and remains humourless).
According to Victor Hugo, “Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face. Good laughter opens the lips and the heart.
Connor Franta said, “Use your smile to change the world, don’t let the world change
your smile.” What an emphatic and assertive statement is it?
Swami Chinmayananda quipped thus, “To weep is folly and to smile is
wisdom. Keep smiling.”
The night ends calmly giving way to another day. Morning quietly dawns in a special way. May everyone smile like the sun's rays to herald a wonderful day ahead!
Smile and laughter slaughter stress proving to be self-confidence gifter, mood shifter, and spirit uplifter. So, don't laugh the laughter away!
Sense of humour means and makes a lot here!
