SEEING THE BRIGHTER SIDE OF EVERYTHING

SEEING THE BRIGHTER SIDE OF EVERYTHING

LOOKING THROUGH POSITIVE PRISM WITH OPTIMISM

YOU CAN’T FILL THE HOLE WITH THE DARKNESS

Basically, nothing comes of nothing and everything has its origin and roots in something.

Needless to say, every problem or failure is an opportunity in disguise to make you sweat it out and perform your best towards the inevitable success. There is no such thing as a problem-free life. So, be bold and face challenges. For smooth roads make no good drivers, smooth seas make no good sailors, and clear sky makes no good pilots.

There is a good reason to always look at the bright side. The spirit of optimism is a buffer and bunker against botching and works wonders. It improves your performance enhancing the overall quality of your life.

Skip the factors that give a slip. Remember, any setback is only temporary and not necessarily irreversible. Better performance next time!

Eliminate the negative and adopt the positive. Don the hat of optimism. Past mistakes and failures are the steps to climb up the ladder of success. Look back at your errors for possible cues and clues for a better future performance.

If the gold is put into fire, it will not lose its hue but will only emerge more refined and burnished to gleam and sparkle further. It will increasingly glitter with a value addition every time it is roasted.

Don’t overestimate or overvalue certain costly and precious things. Gold is beautiful with high decorative value. Though golden slippers, they must be put in the feet only. Again, will anyone cut his throat with a knife just because it is made of gold? So, beautiful things should be put to apt and proper use and can’t be misused which will be counter-productive as a thorn in the flesh.

Even wads of currency notes will not be of use if you are locked up in a place where you don’t get anything to eat which can be bought by exchanging the money you have. There, the currency notes have only face value, not real value.

While small negatives spoil your mood, small positives are spirit-up-lifters.

You should discern the ray of light even through darkness, and, who knows, with the fine positive mettle of mind and action, you can even become a source of that light for others.

To quote Khalil Gibran, “Faith is knowledge within the heart, beyond the reach of proof.”

Walt Whitman said, “Keep your face always towards the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you.”

Swami Vivekananda observed thus, “Everything is easy when you are busy, but nothing is easy when you are lazy. On a day when you don’t come across any problems, you can be sure that you are travelling in the wrong path. Whatever you think, you will be! If you think yourself weak, weak you will be; if you think yourself strong, you will be." What an assertive and prophetic thinking of the Swamiji!

Looking at the positive side includes - highlighting and following the positive, eliminating the negative, focusing on what you can control, going easy on yourself, learning how to be mindful, avoiding negative thoughts and people, treating yourself and others with kindness, reading in between the lines for positive plumes, look for silver linings, and last nevertheless the least, keep going despite stumbling blocks on the right path, come what may.

Dada JP Vaswani said, “Never feel that you are a failure. Rather believe that you are on the way to success.” And, thundered he, “If you can dream, you can do it.” And, turn it into reality.

Keep your thoughts positive because they become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviour. Keep your behaviour positive because your behaviour becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny - Mahatma Gandhi.

Mary Lou Retton had this to say, “Optimism is a happiness magnet. If you stay positive, good things and good people will be drawn to you.”

Don’t live in a fool’s paradise by assuming that everything is right just because you do it. It is farcical and a fallacy.. Think aloud and talk less. You can’t seek to fill the hole with darkness. At best (or worst) you can only hide it.

Don’t measure one’s success by how high he climbs up in the normal course, but how high and sooner he bounces back after hitting rock bottom. Yes, fall seven times and stand up eight. And, let’s not build too many walls but enough bridges.

Many people reach the top not because they are free of limitations but because they act despite their limitations.

Being defeated is often a temporary condition. But giving up is what makes it permanent.

Be thankful to God for what you are. Focus on what you have. Contrarily, if you concentrate on what you don’t have, it will be of no use. After all, what you have is the capital input from which you can amass further wealth.

Why look at the negative side of what you feel you can’t do; instead look at the positive side of what you can do!

“Courage is the greatest of all virtues; for if you don’t have it, you may not have an opportunity to use any of the others”, according to Samuel Johnson.

To conclude, “Don’t use the word ‘luck’ or ‘lucky’. For it undermines your hard work strongly backed up by your steadfast optimism and toiling.
