SUCCESS AND FAILURE -

 FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:

SUCCESS AND FAILURE

Failure and success are not just oft-repeated terms but the stark realities of life. Even though they are like two sides of the same life coin, they are poles apart in character i.e. one becomes sad while encountering a failure and turns euphoric at a success. If one claims that he/she has not failed, perhaps that person has not tried anything at all. Life is inevitably a mix or combination of both success and failure. When failure or success happens, it affects human emotions and psyche.

A failure should not be treated as ‘bad’ or ‘curse’. It should be taken as a positive life lesson or experience, a step forward towards success.

Failure is an inevitable part of even a well-designed system. Mind not. But, how soon you recover and bounce back to success is the crux of the matter.

People don’t plan to fail, they only fail to plan successfully. In other words, there is no intention to fail, but there is no proper planning with an ardent desire to sweat it out and succeed.

You must learn from your past failures and mistakes; maybe, nothing is there to learn from past successes. As Winston Churchill said, “To be willing even to fail is the first step to success.” The saying is not to encourage slipshod and/or lackluster work necessarily inviting failure, but to make you not lose heart at a failure but to persevere harder toward success. Can we then say, “Failure is inevitable sometimes? Failing to learn from the experience is optional."

Success is a wonderful thing for all the winners to relish and enjoy, but one must not underestimate the value of failure. For failure teaches men many more things than even success ever can.

Every day is a new day. Don’t let yesterday’s failures ruin today’s beauty because each day has its own promises of joy and success.

Don’t get disheartened at a failure. If your present plans have failed, ask yourself if there is a better plan waiting to be discovered. Mahatma Gandhi  said, "I take success as a fillip to scale still further heights while I take my failures as steps to move forward towards my progress ."

To quote Thomas Edison, “Learn the art of converting failure into success and challenge into opportunity; there is no failure for such a person.” Such a person will have an undaunted mindset.

The winners in life’s game are not those who have never tasted failure but rather are those who have failed again and again, but who never gave up. Winners benefit from each failure and see it as a step to victory.

There is a Tamil proverb, “நுட்ப புத்திமான் திட்ப சித்திவான்” which translates to  “The shrewed are successful.”

A funny Tamil proverb goes thus:

வைத்தியம் வாயாடிக்குப் பலிக்கும.” It means that a loquacious doctor is successful.

Beat after beat will make even a stone move - Try and try again, you will succeed at last.

Remember, success is only a journey and not the destination. So, one should aspire for more and more success milestones in the path and journey of his/herlife.

If there is fire in your intentions, it is a spark that will burn the torch of success.

(Failure does not close the path, but just tells you that there is a need to add speed to your move and/or trick to achieve success)

(If you want to launch the flight of your dreams on the clouds, you need to weave a strong relationship [of courage and robust and enduring morale] with the sky).

With all said and done, nothing succeeds like success. Isn’t it? However, don’t confuse fame with success. Okay!

Excellent article on Success and failure. “ ship is beautiful in the shore. But it’s not meant for that. It has to sail through the rough and tough of the sea”. Like that success doesn’t happen just like that.

  2. Sampathji your 500th article is worth reading and very interesting. Giving below my parawise comments.
The perspective highlights an essential truth about life - success and failure are inseparable companions in the journey of growth. Failure is not the end but a stepping stone to success, teaching valuable lessons and building resilience. Likewise, success brings joy but also responsibility. The key lies in embracing both with a balanced mindset, learning from failures and staying humble in success.
Absolutely! Failure is not a setback but a learning opportunity. Every failure teaches valuable lessons, strengthens resilience, and brings us closer to success. Instead of fearing failure,we should embrace it as a necessary step in our journey, helping us grow wiser and more determined
Well said! Failure is not the end but a test of resilience. What truly matters is how quickly and effectively we learn from it and move forward. The ability to bounce back stronger defines real success.
Absolutely! Failures and mistakes serve as powerful teachers, helping us grow and improve. While success feels rewarding,it often does not provide the same depth of learning. True progress comes from analyzing failures, making adjustments, and striving for better outcomes.
Very true. Success is enjoyable, but failure shapes character and wisdom. It teaches resilience, patience and the importance of perseverance. While success feels rewarding, failure provides the lessons that pave the way for long term growth and achievement.
Absolutely! Every new day is a fresh opportunity to learn, grow and succeed. Dwelling on past failures only holds us back, while embracing the present with hope and confidence opens the door to new possibilities and happiness.
Well said! True winners are those who turn failures into stepping stones towards success. Every setback is a lesson, and persistence is what ultimately leads to victory. Giving up is the only real failure.
Absolutely! Success is not a final stop but an ongoing journey of learning and achievement. Each milestone is a stepping stone to greater goals, and true fulfillment comes from constantly striving for improvement and new heights.
Absolutely! Success is more than just recognition or fame. It's about hard work, perseverance and personal fulfillment. True success comes from achieving meaningful goals, not just gaining public attention.

    Dear Sampath ji,

Heartiest Congratulations on Publishing Your 500th Article!

Yet another feather in your cap, another gem in your already dazzling crown!

For someone like me, writing even a single article feels like a challenge. Yet, I have read several of your works and am always in awe of the diverse range of topics you explore with such depth and insight.

Today’s trilingual article is truly an amazing achievement. Unfortunately, I lack the vocabulary and the eloquence to fully express my admiration for your dedication, passion, and ability to articulate your thoughts so beautifully—be it in your articles or your letters to newspaper editors, where you voice your opinions on current affairs with remarkable clarity.

We have all read about failure and success since childhood. It’s easy to feel courageous while reading about them, but facing failure when it stares you in the face is an entirely different challenge. Perhaps, that is why thought-provoking articles like yours help us find the strength to endure and navigate setbacks with greater resilience.

All in all, a truly outstanding piece!

    Congratulations once again, Sampath Ji!
