CLOCK

 FROM SAMPATH’S DESK:

CLOCK

 கடிகாரம்

घड़ी

TICK, TICK, TICK

The clock is ticking;

The time is picking;

Alarm is ringing;

Everyone is readying!

Time is the essence of life;

None can belittle, discount, or wish it away  in this era of ALife;°

You need a cutting-edge knife;

Be strong and stubborn, but if necessary, turn a new leaf!

Wake up at 5 O'Clock;

Always mind, but do not stare at the clock;

Do what it does, round the clock;

Remember, you cannot put back the clock!

Fallen flowers cannot climb back;

Toothpaste that came out of tube cannot be put back;

Time lost cannot be gotten back;

Once on the right path, don’t turn back!

Do your duty as regular as the clockwork;

Nothing can match the hard work;

Obstacles may be your enemy’s handiwork;

Overcome it with your counter-firework!

Our forefathers determined time by observing the position of Sun and Moon;

And angles and lengths of shadows seen;

That kept them busy like a honeybee - a healthy sign;

In the absence of a time-showing machine!

The first time indicator was the hourglass;

For a long time, there came nothing to outclass;

Until the wall-mounted pendulum clock became the masterclass;

To rule the roost for many years with its hourly ding-dong bells!

Then came the ‘carry-anywhere’ and ‘keep-it-anywhere’ alarm pieces!

From conventional forms and shapes, clocks started donning a different look;

Modern day Wristwatches, Smartwatches, Quartz clocks, Atomic clocks, Digital clocks, and the like;

Now, we also have talking clock;

And, in this digital era, a mobile phone is also the ‘be-all’ and ‘end-all’ clock!
